Alternative High School Diploma (HSDP)

 

How do I apply for HSDP?

Contact Adam Berndt, Case Manager, at (617) 268-1912 x253, or email hsdp@ndecboston.org.   All applicants must:

  • Submit a copy of the most recent high-school transcript

  • Make an appointment with Adam Berndt, Case Manager

  • Complete an intake interview

 

What will my schedule be?

  • Classes are offered year-round, with fall and spring semesters and an accelerated summer period of two intensive sessions.  Classes meet twice per week for two hours in fall and spring; classes meet four days a week for three hours in the summer.

 

What types of courses do you offer?

One or more courses selected from the following disciplines are taught each semester:

  • English

  • History

  • Human Development

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Social Studies

  • Electives are also offered.

 

What is the cost?

  • Tuition is $400.00 per class. Financial aid is available to qualifying students. 

 

What are other benefits of HSDP?

  • Students participate in a weekly College and Career Exploration class with access to counseling and mentoring, workplace and college readiness, employability training, volunteer opportunities, and internships.  All graduates will have a portfolio of strong academic work, a resume, letters of recommendation, and a record of job and college applications.

HiSET Program located at Joseph M. Tierney Center, 125 Mercier St., South Boston

 

How do I enroll in the HiSET Preparation Program?

  • Attend an Information Session

  • Take a Placement Test

  • Meet with Program Staff

  • Begin Classes

 

What will my schedule be?

  • Classes meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. (8 hours)

  • College and Career Seminar meets Friday, 1:00-3:00 (2 hours)

 

What types of courses do you offer?

  • Academic preparation for Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies HiSET tests

 

What is the cost?

  • There is no cost for classes.

 

What are other benefits of HiSET Preparation?
